چکیده

Given their size, in the single-digit nanometer range, and the versatility of their functionality, dendrimers and other dendritic macromolecules are poised to make a significant contribution to the rapidly expanding fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology. This highlight focuses on nascent applications of dendrimers that take advantage of their structural features and polyvalent character. In particular, the concept of dendritic encapsulation of function, borrowed fromNature, can be applied to the design of a varied array of energy-harvesting, lightemitting, or catalytic macromolecules. Similarly, the compact size and hierarchical ordering of components within dendrimers make them ideal for exploring the limits of nanolithography. Finally, the presence of differentiated functionalities and the polyvalent character of dendrons and dendrimers constitute strong assets for their use in polymer therapeutics. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A SIMPLE ALGORITHM FOR COMPUTING TOPOLOGICAL INDICES OF DENDRIMERS

Dendritic macromolecules’ have attracted much attention as organic examples of well-defined nanostructures. These molecules are ideal model systems for studying how physical properties depend on molecular size and architecture. In this paper using a simple result, some GAP programs are prepared to compute Wiener and hyper Wiener indices of dendrimers.

Synthesis of fluorescent composite macromolecules by using organic/inorganic assemblies as structural units.

A synthetic pathway is introduced to construct fluorescent composite macromolecules with supramolecular assemblies as structural units. The supramolecular assembly that contains polymerizable groups is used as a starting "monomer." The supramolecular assembly is composed of nanoparticle core of II - IV group semiconductor and organic ammonium shell. Polymerization of the assemblies yields solub...

Unidirectional Energy Transfer in Conjugated Molecules: The Crucial Role of High-Frequency CtC Bonds

Excited-state nonadiabatic molecular dynamics is used to study energy transfer in dendrimer building blocks, between two-, three-, and four-ring linear polyphenylene ethynylene units linked by meta-substitutions. Upon excitation, dendrimers with these building blocks have been shown to undergo highly efficient and unidirectional energy transfer. The simulations start by initial vertical excitat...

The First Geometric–Arithmetic Index of Some Nanostar Dendrimers

Dendrimers are highly branched organic macromolecules with successive layers or generations of branch units surrounding a central core [1,4]. These are key molecules in nanotechnology and can be put to good use. In this article, we compute the first geometricarithmetic index of two infinite classes of dendrimers.

Diamondoids and DNA Nanotechnologies

Diamondoids are cage-like saturated hydrocarbons consisting of fused cyclohexane rings. The Diamondoids family of compounds is one of the best candidates for molecular building blocks (MBBs) in nanotechnology to construct organic nanostructures compared to other MBBs known so far. The challenge is to find a route for self-assembly of these cage hydrocarbons and their applications in the bottom-...
